Religion and Health

Today we will discuss a very controversial topic.
RELIGION AND HEALTH
Religion Has Affected Our Health Preferences And Choices in the different places we find ourselves both geographically and culturally.
Should religion make us prefer death and suffering instead of good health and happiness? I always ponder on this topic, why a certain sect would choose not to go to a hospital rather will consume bottles of oils and water for healing in the guise of a miracle.
Are medical treatments not miracles?
A successful brain surgery is a miracle, the fact that an intravenous drip is given to someone and they get stronger and healthier than the state you they were before is indeed a miracle.
Sometimes it makes one wonder, has religion done more harm than good in the understanding of health? Even the bible says that only the sick need a doctor, doesn't that prove that we need to enjoy good health by seeing a doctor when one is ill? The bible also says that "my people die of lack of knowledge", is that not also proof of how much God wants us to benefit from knowing things and being open to new knowledge? Everyone has a different religion in all parts of the world therefore beliefs differ, however a god who says u need not have good health or enjoy good health products could as well create sick creations right? If the god/gods people serve as they believe created them in good health, is that not a sign or a message that he/she wants the creation to be healthy? Who created the doctors, their brains and gives them successful procedures? For believers its a God right?
From a Christian Perspective
How can a pastor or a preacher who has never seen or met God make a congregation, i mean an educated congregation for that matter believe that by dying of illness and disease their God is happy and pleased, that is as good as having a weak car battery and refuse to be helped with a neighbours battery to jump start your car because that is not in the manual of the car by the manufacturer. A congregation not in an archaic village or a forest, a congregation with access to smartphones and internet, not a congregation founded in the year 10BC, a congregation that has seen good roads and electricity, it is quite baffling and unbelievable.
A patient I met in a certain clinic passed away early this year 2017 of kidney failure. Why? He had been diagnosed of kidney failure for over a year and has been on dialysis till a certain pastor walked into his life with a healing message that an anointed oil will heal him not a hospital or the dialysis session, he stopped his dialysis session and just a week after he had a total relapse, the patient had gotten all swollen because of his inability to pass out fluids in the process of urination which is a key reason for dialysis in kidney patients, before he could be rushed to the hospital by his family he gave up, what did the pastor say in return? "The patient has found his healing in heaven", really?
We will all die someday because death is a constant K in life, does that mean we should not take caution while crossing the roads? Should we tie ropes to our necks and hang from trees because death is inevitable? Should we use a wet body to touch open electrical wires? NO!!!
Religion should be a way of life, like a culture and so is healthy living. Healthy living is a way of life which should be  included as a belief or even termed a religion. Therefore it is okay to say I believe in Good Health.
It is a sorry situation when someone is deceived not because they do not know the truth but because they not to heed to the truth, everyone needs to enjoy good health irrespective of their beliefs and cultures, isn't that why people choose to believe in a religion? Make good health your religion and watch your life change for the better.

  1. When it comes to preferring religion over medicine, I personally believe it is just plain illiteracy. Even Jesus Himself showed us the importance of medicine and science when he mixed spit with sand to make the medicine with which he healed the blind man. Even after healing the 10 lepers, he could have declared them healed, after all He is God, but recognising the importancs of medicine, he told them to go show themselves to the elders (who in those days had the physicians among them) to be declared clean.

Here are my theories on why our people choose religion over medicine
    1) Our people still have the mentality of our fore-fathers who believed and every illness is punishment from the gods and therefore require atonement and/or sacrifice. Hence the need to go to church and make atonement and prayer requests when we are ill.
    2) Our people don't seem to realize that the spirit man and the physical man are two different entities. Just as you cannot give a dog cat food and vice versa you cannot feed the physical man with spiritual food and vice versa. When the body is sick, you can't give spiritual therapy. You don't go to the doctor when you need to confess your sins so why go to the pastor when you have malaria?
    3) Too much spiricoco. Our people are too spiritual for there own good. Too much of everything is bad even religion. It blinds you to other things which are good for you as well.

Anyways that's my thought on the issue.

    Make I enter market.
